Biologic patellofemoral replacement!!

In cases with extensive chondral patellofemoral lesions and even isolated osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint in young patients, we found the alternative of fresh osteochondral transplantation. In this way, we avoid the placement of a patellofemoral prosthesis in patients who do not yet have a chronological or biological age for it.

Cartilage transplantation of the patellofemoral joint

In young patients with invalidating knee pain due to early osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint (anterior region) secondary to dysplasia (alteration in the shape) of this area of the knee, fresh osteochondral transplantation of both articular surfaces is the best alternative. We thus avoid the implantation of a prosthesis at very young ages.
